Saturday arrived with clear blue skies and the prospect of a warm day. The journey both there and back was under an hour and a half. The course was in good condition although the greens had been cored a couple of weeks ago and were a bit woolly. I don't care what anyone says I think Royal Island is a tight and tricky course but good value for money!
Having said that the scoring was good with 5 out of 12 scoring in the mid 30's. We had a tie for 3rd between Ian Henderson and James Walker on 35 points, with James coming out on top on countback. But with a winning score of 36 Ian's mate, who no doubt didn't let him hear the end of it, Tony Fauset, Well played!
Next month is our 15th Anniversary of SLAGS and we are going back to where it all started at Dong Nai. It was also decided that we will have another 3 club competition. This gives you a chance to select which 3 clubs you want to carry, and you are only allowed 3 clubs in your bag from the start! A putter will count as 1 of your 3 clubs, so think about it! In the past the winning score has normally been around the same as when we play with a full set, something wrong there!
So we are playing on the 18 April at Dong Nai, teeing off at 11.43. The price is 2,650,000 vnd as long as we have over 12 players. The price goes up to 2,800,000 vnd for 12 or less, so let's make it a big day and please confirm if you are coming on the coach which will leave Phattys at 9am Sharp!
